Tigerhounds TIGERHOUNDS

When tigers in Bangladesh begin terrorizing villages, scientists fear the demise of a species already on the brink of extinction. The tigers of the Sundarbans Forest have developed a taste for humans, and villagers are fighting back. In a last-ditch effort to drive the rogue tigers back into the wild, scientists have assembled some unlikely candidates: street dogs. With the help of an expert dog trainer, scientists hope to transform these lowly mutts into local heroes. Will the tigerhounds save the lives of both humans and tigers, or will this unconventional approach prove you can't teach old dogs new tricks?

CROCODILE BLUES

Among the foothills of the Himalayan mountain range, in the chilly waters of the Girwa River live two of the strangest and most endangered fishers on earth. One, the Gharial is a weird-looking crocodile with a narrow, tooth-studded snout. Romulus Whitaker hopes to create a sustainable future and bring these strange creatures back from the brink of extinction, while solving the mystery of the sudden death of scores of Gharial that threatens the species survival.

This fascinating journey into the darkest depths of the Amazonian Rainforest will introduce audiences to a truly extraordinary animal, the Red-Faced Uakari monkey, an animal rarely seen by the outside world. His ground-breaking research will reveal the unique behaviors and social structures of the Uakari's world, a world that is becoming increasingly endangered.

CHEETAHS: AGAINST ALL ODDS

In the Serengeti, cheetahs lead uneasy lives. Females must leave their cubs alone and exposed to the savagery of more powerful predators in order to hunt. Even scrounging scavengers can gain the upper-hand over this slender and graceful speedster. This extraordinary tale follows two cheetah mothers, struggling to raise their young in the face of constant danger. As their fortunes rise and fall, experience battles against luck for the upper hand and success against all odds.

ELEPHANTS: BREAKING BOUNDARIES

It's a project unlike any other in Africa. Confined by park artificial boundaries, international borders and manmade obstacles, Botswana's elephant population is on the verge of implosion. In this arid and desolate landscape, some 120,000 elephants compete for dwindling resources, stripping shriveled bark from drought-blasted trees in a desperate search for food. Hope lies in Mike Chase, an ecologist with an ambitious plan. Mike is fighting to restore the ancient migration routes of these magnificent animals, relaying ancient trails that led the elephants' ancestors to precious resources in times of drought and famine. It's a mammoth task, but Mike's passion for these creatures is endless and he'll fight until the very end.

WILD DOG ISLAND

Put a band of survivors on an island, and see if they can make it. It's not another reality show — it's nature, as real as it gets: a bold experiment to save Africa's endangered painted dog. In Zimbabwe, conservationists take six dogs rescued from death, set them free on an island teeming with game, and see if they can learn to survive. The risks: lions, crocs, poachers — and the dogs' own inexperience.
